Talk about an amazing combination in a diet book. I never thought I’d find a diet book I would be able to follow. This one seems fairly simple however, so I am going to be trying the advice of Erin Oprea, Carrie Underwood’s personal trainer. At this point I’m not sure who is luckier, Erin Oprea for working with Carrie Underwood, or Carrie Underwood for working with Erin Oprea. This book reads amazingly well and is easy to understand. Once you knock out the bad foods, you can work on lean and clean eating. I want to have a portion control diet, but it also needs to be a healthy one.

Now, I’m not sure how effective the 4×4 Diet is all together, I’m still reading through and deciding if it’s fully do-able for me. It seems simple enough, but there’s cutting back on cheese for it being high in sodium and there’s cutting out soda because of all it’s sugar. Soda is bad for you in general, but my body sadly basically runs on it. I am having to slowly decrease my soda intake with time, because a sudden caffeine with-drawl can cause a shock to your system. For me, it has in the past. I am hoping this time I can stay away from the soda.

The four habits to get best results with are:

Cutting out Starches at night (bye, bye corn and rice with dinner!)

Cutting back on Sugar (and getting rid of some things entirely, adios soda!)

Cutting back on Sodium (*sob* *hugs and kisses cheese* I love you, but bye ridiculous amounts!!!)

Cutting back on Alcohol (*whew* I already don’t drink. If you see me with a drink, you know to back away slowly it’s been a horrible day!)

So far, fairly do-able and you’re not entirely getting rid of everything you love to eat. Just drastically reducing them. Erin Oprea, does tell you what to avoid, and what time of day is okay for eating other foods. Rice? Best around lunch, not after 4pm. There’s a guide telling you what you can substitute certain foods with and how you can eat out still. There’s also a few recipes in it to help give you ideas on what to make that will help you eat healthier and the goal is to achieve weight loss.

The 4×4 Diet book also includes tabata work outs. This is kind of interval training. You do each exercise for 20 seconds, take a ten second break, and then re-do the set of four. You can do each tabata any way you want. Two can be done 4 times, 4 can be done twice (which is how they’re set up) or you can do one move eight times. It’s up to you on how you want to do this. There’s multiple suggestions and various levels of exercises for each person. These are to be able to be done within four minutes of your day. Of course, you still need to warm up for exercises, so you may need to set aside 20 minutes. It also may take you some time to get used to the exercises and positions. Some of them are harder for me than others.

However, I will be doing my best to try to get this diet working for me. On top of this, you have to remember to be very hydrated, they recommend about half your weight in ounces of water. For me that’s around 10.5 glasses of water a day. (Scary how much I’ll be running to the bathroom with all that water.) I will be trying some recipes and posting them at a later time for all of us to enjoy. I just started dieting today, and I can’t fully commit to it yet, due to having to slowly with-drawl from soda. However, I am totally looking forward to seeing the effects this diet can have on my life! Have you ever dieted? I would love to know what you tried!
