Forever My Little Girl is a sad reminder to me that my daughter is growing up. At the same time, it reminds me to try to take in the moments, good and bad, as they help both of us grow. Every bad day or moment is a growing experience for me as a parent, and her as a child. This book helps remind me that we are all always learning and growing in some ways. My daughter needs me to guide her, but sometimes, all we can do is pray for our children. My daughter is my entire heart and soul, but outside the home, the world can and will change her. This is a great book you may want to share with your little (or not-so-little) girl.  There’s a good small poem here and prayer for your older, growing girl, that I truly love.

“Forever, Little Girl,

Dance with me, Little Girl,

Hold tightly to my hand.

Forever, little girl, when you date little girl,

Choose as best you can.”

“Lord of all,

Guide our girl down a path of right decisions.

Give her the Wisdom and Maturity to choose wisely,

and lead her into relationships that are pleasing in Your sight. Amen.”

My daughter is four, these don’t apply to her yet, but God help her when they do. She’ll make mistakes, I know because I did too. It’s okay to choose wrong in life. It’s a part of being human. We know not what we do, until after we learn from doing it. All we can do is guide. Guide and hope the lessons stick. I know life to be a hard and long path we walk, but it ours to walk. Life’s not easy, it’s not easy parenting, and it’s not easy growing up. I think Forever My Little Girl, helps remind us of both sides. When guidance, does not appear to be enough, pray. Pray often. Pray for patience, pray for wisdom, pray for understanding, pray for tolerance. Love with all your might. I truly believe there is no stronger love a mother can have, than the love for their child. Remember that love, embrace your children and hold on to it through all your days. On the days when it’s hard to love so fiercely, pray some more.
