Infused Water Detox Recipe & Infused Water Pitcher

Have you ever tried infused water? Did you know certain ingredients make for one tasty detox water? Strawberry, Mint and Lemon are a great way to start your day and they actually help with weight loss. I happen to have received an awesome infused water pitcher for review. While it came with a free infused water recipe e-book, I am not an e-book person, so I just googled a few.  I came across two, one with mint and one without. The one with mint is clarified as a “detox” water, so I went with that. One of them also included the rinds on the lemon and the other did not. I also altered the recipe to what I thought would be my liking.

The Gear Ultimate Pitcher is acrylic and it’s top rack dishwasher safe. In other words, you should hand wash this. It’s too big for my top rack unless you lay it on its side and that allows potential for the handle to break. It comes with the infusing tube and an ice tube insert. Both twist into the middle of the lid and stay rather centered. The pitcher holds 3 quarts or 93 ounces.  It works very well. Now for my detox infused water recipe!

I used Strawberry, Mint and Lemon for this detox recipe. Why?

It’s a great refreshing metabolism booster! The Strawberry, Mint, and Lemon Water Detox Drink (<-click for original, unaltered recipe) is packed so full of Vitamin C. It’s giving your metabolism a boost while burning fat and increasing weight loss potential. – The following information is also from the site linked above. –

It also contains anti-inflammatory ingredients and is great for fighting cold and flu viruses.

Strawberries are known to boost your immune system, regulate blood sugar, curb appetite, help with digestion, and improve cardiovascular health. They’re packed full of Vitamin C to increase your metabolism and help reduce bloating and inflammation in muscles. I’m so glad I buy strawberries on a regular basis for my daughter and me. They’re expensive, but they’re so very good for you. I’m even currently trying to grow my own.

The lemon is good for weight management, improved digestion, appetite control and also helps fight bloating. This is why I love lemon water so much. I drink it regularly. There’s various detox infused water recipes, but a majority of them seem to have one common factor: Lemon. (Besides the obvious water!)

Mint helps boost energy, and best of all it helps you burn fat faster, making this a great drink for weight loss.

Make this Strawberry, Mint, and Lemon Infused Water Detox Drink, so that you can enjoy all the benefits of a healthy, tasty infused water!

detox water recipe, strawberry, mint, lemon water, infused waterI used 7 almost dead strawberries, a lemon and 5 mint leaves for the recipe. You will need a knife, cutting board, and infusing water pitcher. I managed to push it down into the tube rather well, but more than this, probably would not fit in the tube. (More mint leaves may have been okay.)

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Total Time: 4 hours, 5 minutes

Yield: 3 Quarts

Serving Size: Approx 12, 8 ounce cups

Infused Water Detox Recipe

Cut fruit. Layer fruit inside tube. Insert tube into pitcher and place in fridge. Let set for a minimum of 4 hours. Pinkish color will take, it's from the strawberry juice.

Ingredients

  • 7 Strawberries, these can be towards the end of their "freshness" (Mine equaled to 1 cup of Strawberries as size does make a difference)
  • 1 Whole Lemon
  • 5 Mint Leaves

Instructions

  1. Slice Strawberries into quarters
  2. Slice Lemon into quarters or thin slices
  3. Layer Mint, Lemon and Strawberries into fusing tube (Alternatively let flow loose in pitcher)
  4. Fill Pitcher with Cold Water
  5. Let sit for at least 4 hours.

Notes

Remove Lemon Rinds if you don't want a lot of the bitter lemon taste Do Not Infuse Water for more than 24 hours. The flavor will stick well. I used SWEET Mint, may use spearmint for a more minty flavor. May also want to slit the mint a little, I did not. The pitcher lasts me about two days. (Longer if you're not a big water drinker.)

I think this detox water came out tasting way too much like strawberries and not nearly enough lemon, or even mint. I’m not sure with them just laying in there, if they helped flavor at all. I may have wanted to make a small slit in those to help the flavor extract.  I did use sweet mint, because the original recipe didn’t say sweet or spearmint. The original recipe also called for way more strawberries, and I just felt that it was unnecessary to use so many. (Turns out it was, because the strawberries over-powered my lemon easily.) I do wish I left the rinds on my lemon.

If you love strawberries though, you’ll love it! It turns into a beautiful pink color after infusing. Try not to infuse your water for more than 24 hours. The listing for the infused water pitcher says you can use the fruit for two to three days. I just don’t recommend that personally, but you may try it. Everyone has their own preferences and tastes buds vary. I do like it all in all, and I know how to tweak it to my liking.
